Oute of that land came Assur, & builded Niniue, & the citye Rehoboth, & Calah,

Thys is the heuye burthen of Niniue, which Nahum of Elchos dyd wryte as he sawe it.

And shulde not I then haue compassion vpon Niniue that greate cytye, wherin there are aboue an .C. & .xx. thousand persones, that knowe not their right hand from the lefte, besyde moch catell?

Se that thou speake my wordes vnto them, whether they be obedyent or not, for they are obstynate.

and sayde. My God I am ashamed, and darre not lyfte vp myne eyes vnto the my God: for our wyckednesses are growne ouer our heade, & oure trespaces are waxen greate vnto the heauen.

Beholde the hyre of the labourers which haue reped doun your fieldes (which hyer is of you kept backe by fraude) crieth: & the cryes of them whiche haue reped, are entred into the eares of the Lorde Sabaoth

And ye shalbe brought to the head rulers and kinges for my sake, in witnes to them & to the gentyls.

The men of Niniuye shall ryse at the daye of iudgement with this nacion, and condemne them: for thei amended at the preaching of Ionas: And beholde, a greater then Ionas is here.

So Sennaherib the kynge of the Assyrians brake vp, and dwelt at Niniue.

Wherfore, I thought from hence forth, not to speake of hym, ner to preach eny more in hys name. But the worde of the Lorde was a very burnynge fyre in my herte and in my bones, which when I wolde haue stopped I might not.

They consydre not in their hertes that I remembre all their wickednes. They go aboute with their owne inuencions, but I se them wel ynough.

So Ionas arose, and wente to Niniue at the Lordes commaundement. Niniue was a greate cyte vnto God, namely, of thre dayes iourney.

But there was a prophete of the Lordes named obed which went out to the Host that came to Samaria & sayde to them: se, because the Lorde God of your fathers was wroth with Iuda, he deliuered them into youre handes. And ye haue slayne them with cruelnesse that reacheth vp to heauen.

Thy wounde can not be hyd, thy plage is so sore. All they that heare this of the, shal clappe theyr handes ouer the. For what is he to whom thou hast not alway ben doyng hurte.
