Thus muste she be spoyled, emptied and clene striped out: that their hertes maye be melted awaye, their knees tremble, all their loynes be weake, and their faces blacke as a pot.

they shall stande in feare, carefulnesse and sorowe shal come vpon them, and they shal haue payne, as a woman that trauaileth with childe. One shal euer be abasshed of another, and their faces shall burne lyke the flamme.

For what els doth thys sygnyfye, that I se? Namely, that al strong men smyte, euerye man hys hande vpon hys loynes, as a woman in the payne of her trauayle. Who euer sawe a man trauayle wyth chylde? Enquere thereafter, and se. Yea al theyr faces are maruelous pale:

Heth. But now their faces are very black: In so moche, that thou shuldest not knowe them in the streates. Their skynne cleueth to their bones, It is wythered, & become lyke a drye stock.

I am sore vexed, because of the hurte of my people: I am heuye and abashed,

For I am become like a botel in the smoke, yet do not I forget thy statutes.

Where is now the dwellyng of the lyons, & the pasture of the lyons whelpes? where the lyon & the lyonesse went wt the whelpes, & no man frayed them awaye?
