Be glad then (O ye chyldren of Syon) & reioyse in the Lorde youre God, for he hathe geuen you a teacher of ryghtuousnes: and he it is that shall sende you doune shuwers of rayne, early and late in the fyrste moueth,

then I wyll send you reyne in the ryght season & youre lande shall yelde hyr encrease and the trees of the fyeld shal gyue thyr fruite.

Then shall we haue vnderstanding, and endeuoure oure selues to knowe the Lorde. He shall go forth as the springe of the daye, & come vnto vs as the eueninge and morninge rayne vpon the earth.

then he wyll giue rayne vnto youre lande in due ceason, both the first rayne & the later, and thou shalte gather in thy corne thy wyne and thyne oyle.

Thou shalt fanne them, & the wynde shall carye them awaye, and the whyrlwynde shall scater them. But thou shalt reioyse in the Lorde, and shalt delyte in praysinge the holy one of Israel.

Let Israell reioyse in hym that made hym, & let the chyldren of Sion be ioyfull in their kyng.

Moreouer my brethren, reioyce in the Lorde. It greueth me not to write one thinge often to you. For to you it is a sure thynge.

Praye the Lord then by tymes to geue thou the latter rayne, so shall the Lorde make cloudes, & geue you raine ynough, for all the intreace of the felde:

The Lord is my strength and my shylde: my hert hoped in hym, and I am helped: therfore my hert daunseth for ioy, and I wil sing praises vnto hym.

Then wyll he geue rayne to the sede that ye shall sowe in the earthe, and geue you bread of the encrease of the earthe, so that all shalbe plentuous and aboundaunt. Thy cattel also shall he fede in the brode medowes,

My doctrine droppe as doth the raine and my speache flowe as doth the dewe, as the miselyng vpon the herbes, and as the droppes vpon the grasse.

The Lord shall open vnto the hys good treasure, euen the heauen, to geue rayne vnto thy lande in due ceason and to blesse al the laboures of thyne hande. And thou shalt lende vnto many nacions, but shalt not nede to borowe thy selfe.

For we are cyrcumcysion, whyche worship God in the spirite, and reioyce in Christe Iesu, and haue no confidence in the fleshe,

Ephraim shalbe as a gyaunt, and their hert shalbe chereful as thorow wine: yea, their children shall se it, & be glad, & their herte shall reioyce in the Lord.

They thincke not in theyr hertes: O let vs feare the Lorde oure God, that geueth vs rayne early and late, when nede is, which kepeth euer styll the harueste for vs yearlye.

O that my wordes might please hym, for my ioye is in the Lorde.

This is the cause, that the rayne and eueninge dew hath ceased. Thou hast gotten the an whores foreheade, and canst not be ashamed.

And therfore I am ioyful in the Lorde, and my soule reioyseth in my God. For he shall put vpon me the garment of health, & couer me with the mantle of righteousnes. He shal decke me lyke a brydegrom, and as a bryde that hath her apparell vpon her.

and thyne eares harken to his worde, that cryeth after the, and sayeth: thys is the waye, go thys, and turne neyther to the right hande nor to the lefte.

The chearefull conntenaunce of the kynge is lyfe, and hys louynge fauoure is as the euenynge dewe.

Be glad, O ye ryghtuous, and reioyse in the Lord, be ioyful al ye that are true of herte.

Nowe yf there be a messenger (one amonge a thousande) sent for to speake vnto man, and to shewe hym the ryght waye:

Reioyce thou greatly, O doughter Syon, be glad, O doughter Ierusalem. For lo, thy king commeth vnto the, euen the ryghteous & Sauioure: Lowly and simple is he, he rydeth vpon an asse, & vpon the foale of an asse.

When here were but thre monethes vnto the haruest I wythhelde the rayne from you: yea I rayned vpon one cytye, and not vpon another, one pece of grounde was moystured wyth rayne, and the grounde that I rayned not vpon was drye.

Beth. The chyldren of Syon that were alwaye in honoure, & clothed with the most precious golde: how are they now becomme lyke the erthen vessels whych be made wyth the potters hande,

For Iuda haue I bent out as a bowe for me, and Ephraim haue I fylled Thy sonnes (O Sion) will I rase vp againste the Grekes, & make the as a giauntes swearde:

Neuerthelesse he lefte not hym selfe without wytnes, in that he shewed hys benefytes, in geuynge vs rayne from heauen, and fruteful ceasons, fyllyng our hertes with fode and gladnes.

Which goinge thorow the vale of misery vse it for a well, and the poles are filled with water.

then heare thou vp to heauen, and be mercyfull vnto the synne of thy seruauntes & of thy people Israel, that thou shewe them a good waye to walke in, & geue raygne vpon thy lande that thou haste geuen vnto thy people to enheret.

whether it be to punysh anye lande, or to do good vnto them, that seke him.

Which couereth the heauen wyth cloudes, prepareth rayn for the earth, & maketh the grasse to growe vpon the mountaynes.

Good fortune and prosperyte wil I geue them, and vnto all that be rounde aboute my hyll. A prosperous shower and rayne wil I sende them in due season,
