This is the cause, that the rayne and eueninge dew hath ceased. Thou hast gotten the an whores foreheade, and canst not be ashamed.

and wyll breake the pride of your strength. For I wyll make the heauen ouer you as harde as yron, & youre lande as harde as brasse.

For the grounde shalbe dried vp, because there commeth no rayne vpon it. The plowmen also shalbe a shamed, & shall couer their heades.

Are there eny amonge the goddes of the Gentiles that sende rayne or geue the showers of heauen? Doest not thou it O Lorde oure God, in whom we trust? Yee Lorde, thou doest all these thinges.

They thincke not in theyr hertes: O let vs feare the Lorde oure God, that geueth vs rayne early and late, when nede is, which kepeth euer styll the harueste for vs yearlye.

I wyl laye it waste, that it shall neyther be twisted nor cut, but beare thornes and breares. I wil also forbydde the cloudes, that they shall not raine vpon it.

And the heauen that is ouer thy head shalbe brasse, & the erthe that is vnder the, yeron.

I haue called for a drouthe, both vpon the lande & vpon the mountaynes, vpon corne, vpon wyne, & vpon oyle, vpon euery thynge that the grounde bryngeth forth, vpon men and vpon catell, yea and vpon all handy laboure.

When here were but thre monethes vnto the haruest I wythhelde the rayne from you: yea I rayned vpon one cytye, and not vpon another, one pece of grounde was moystured wyth rayne, and the grounde that I rayned not vpon was drye.

What man is so wyse, as to vnderstande thys? Or to whome hath the Lorde spoken by mouth, that he may shewe this, and saye: O thou lande, why peryshest thou so? Wherfor art thou so brent vp, & lyke a wyldernesse, that no man goeth thorowe?

Fye for shame, how abhominable thinges do they? and yet they be not ashamed, yea thei knowe of no shame. Wherfore in the tyme of theyr vysytacion they shall fall among the dead bodyes, sayeth the Lorde.

Therfore they must be ashamed, for they haue committed abhomynacyon. But howe shulde they be ashamed, when they knowe nothinge, neither of shame nor good nurtoure? And therfore they shall fall amonge the slayne, and in the houre when I shall vyset them, they shall be brought doune, sayeth the Lorde.

But the iuste Lorde that doth no vnryghte, was amonge them, euery morning shewynge them hys lawe clearlye, and ceased not. But the vngodlye wyll not learne to be ashamed.

But the house of Israel wyll not folowe the, for they wyll not folowe me: yee all the house of Israell haue styf foreheades and harde hertes.

Where as thou (O Lorde) lokest only vpon faythe and truthe. Thou hast scourged them, but they toke no repentaunce: thou hast correcte them for amendement, but they refused thy correccion. They made their faces harder then a stone, and woulde not amende.

Se that ye despyse not hym, that speaketh. For yf they escaped not whiche refused hym, that spake on earth: muche more shall we not escape, yf we turne awaye from hym that speaketh from heauen:

and refused to heare, and were not myndefull of the wonders that thou dyddeste for them: but became obstynate & heady in so muche that they turned backe to theyr bondage in theyr disobedience. But thou my God forgauest, and wast gracyous, mercyfull, pacyente, and of greate goodnesse, and forsokest them not.

The Lordes shall sende their seruauntes to fetch water, and when they come to the welles, they shall fynde no water, but shall carye their vessels home emptye. They shall be ashamed and confounded, & shall couer their heades.

Take a boke, & wryte therin all the wordes, that I haue spoken vnto the, to Israel, to Iuda, and to all the people, from the tyme that I beganne for to speake vnto the (in the raygne of Iosiah) vnto thys daye.

Come together & gather you, O froward people,

And on the morowe the elder sayd vnto the yonger: beholde yesternyght laye I with my father. Let vs geue him wyne to drynke this nyght also, and go thou and lye wyth hym, & let vs saue seed of oure father.

An vngodly man goeth forth rashlye, but the iuste refourmeth his owne waie.

Neuertheles youre mysdedes haue turned these from you, and your synnes haue robbed you hereof.

The worde of the Lorde shewed vnto Ieremye, concernynge the derth of the fruites.

Wherfore two, yea thre cytes came vnto one to dryncke water: but they were not satisfyed, yet wyll ye not, turne vnto me, sayeth the Lorde.
