Drawe nye to God, and he wyll drawe nye to you. Clense youre handes ye synners, and purge youre hertes ye wauerynge mynded.

I wyll therfore that the men praye euerye where lyfting vp pure handes wythout wrath or doubtyng.

Therfor thus sayth the Lord: For so much as thys people draweth nye me with theyr mouthe, and prayseth me hyghlye wyth theyr lyppes (where as theyr herte neuerthelesse is farre from me, & the feare which they owe vnto me, that turne they to mens lawes and doctrynes)

Euen he that hath innocent handes and a cleane hert: which lifteth not vp his minde vnto vanite, and sweareth not to disceaue.

Shoulde I then clense my herte in vayne (thougt I) and washe my handes in innocency?

When Pilate sawe that he preuayled nothyng but the more busynes was made, he toke water and washed his handes before the people sayinge I am innocent of the bloude of this iust persone, or on your perille be it.

But the wysedome that is from aboue, is fyrste pure, then peasable, gentle, and easye to be entreated, full of mercye & good frutes, wythoute iudgynge, and wythout simulacyon:

Thou hast enclyned thy self vnto me, when I called vpon the, and haste sayde: feare not.
