And this is the truste that we haue in him, that yf we axe any thinge, accordinge to hys will he heareth vs.

and whatsoeuer we are, we shall receiue of him, because we kepe his commaundementes, and do these thinges, which are pleasyng in hys sight.

From whence commeth warre & fyghtynge amonge you: come they not hear hence? euen of your voluptuousnes, that rayne in youre membres.

Now the tyme shall come, that when they call vnto the Lorde, he shall not heare them, but hyde hys face from them, because that thorowe their owne Imaginacyons they haue dealte so wyckedly.

The Lorde aborreth the sacryfyce of the vngodlye, but the prayer of the rightuous is acceptable vnto hym.

Who so stoppeth hys eare at the cryenge of the pore he shal cry him selfe and not be herd

If anye suche complayne, no man geueth answere, and that because of the wyckednesse of proude tyrauntes.

And thus it is come to passe, that like as he spake, & they woulde not hear: euen so they cryed, and I woulde not heare, (sayeth the Lord of hostes)

And not longe after, the yonger sonne gathered all that he had together, & toke hys iorneye into a farre countrye, & there he wasted hys goodes with ryetous liuing.

But Iesus sayed vnto them: Ye wote not what ye axe. Can ye drinke of the cuppe that I shall drinke of, and be baptysed in the baptime that I shalbe baptised in?

Iesus aunswered and sayde: Ye wotte not what ye are. Are ye able to drinke of the cup that I shall drynke of: and to be baptised with the baptisme that I shalbe baptised wt?

But praye not thou for thys people, byd neyther prayse nor prayer for them, for thoughe they crye vnto me in theyr trouble, yet wyl I not heare them.

The sacrifyce of the vngodly is abhominacion, for they offer the thyng that is gotten with wickednes.

Then shal they call vpon me, but I will not heare: they shal seke me early, but thei shal not find me:

For though they fast, I wyll not heare theyr prayers. And though they offre burntoffringes & sacrifices, yet wyll not I accepte them. For I will destroye them with the swearde, honger and pestilence.

They cryed, but there was none to helpe them: yea euen vnto the Lorde, but he heard them not.

Therfore thus sayth the Lorde: Beholde, I wyll sende a plage amonge you, whiche ye shall not be able to escape: and though ye crye vnto me, I wyll not heare you.

but assone as this thy sonne was come, which hath deuoured thy goodes with harlotes, thou hast for his pleasure kylled the fatted caulfe.

Wherfore God said vnto him: because thou hast asked this thynge and hast not asked long life, nether hast asked ryches, nor the lyues of thyne enemies, but hast asked the discrecion to vnderstand equite.

For euery one that axeth, receyueth: and he that seketh, findeth: & to hym that knocketh shall it be opened
