But ye haue despysed the pore. Are not the ryche they whiche oppresse you: and they which drawe you before iudges?

Who so laugheth the pore to scorne blasphemeth hys maker: & he that is glad of another mans hurt, shall not be vnpunished.

Or els despise ye the congregacion of God and shame them that haue not? What shall I saye vnto you? shall I prayse you: In thys prayse I you not.

He that doeth a poore man wrong, blasphemeth hys maker: but who so hathe pytye of the poore, doeth honoure vnto God,

As for you ye haue made a mocke at the counsail of the poore, because he putteth hys trust in the Lorde.

Beholde the hyre of the labourers which haue reped doun your fieldes (which hyer is of you kept backe by fraude) crieth: & the cryes of them whiche haue reped, are entred into the eares of the Lorde Sabaoth

and ye haue a respecte to hym that weareth the gaye clothynge, and saye vnto hym. Sitte thou here in a good place: and saye vnto the pore, stande thou there, or sitte here vnder my fotestole:

But when they found them not, they drue Iason and certayne brethren vnto the heades of the citie, criynge: these that trouble the worlde are come hyther also,

But the, Iewes moued the worshypfull and honorable women, & the chiefe men of the citie, and raysed persecucion agaynste Paule and Barnabas, & expelled them out of theyr costes.

But Saul made hauoke of the congregacion entring into euery house, and drewe oute bothe man and woman, and thruste them into prysone.

Do the widdow, the fatherlesse, the straunger, and poore no wronge: and let no man ymagen euil against his brother in his hert.

For so muche then as ye oppresse the poore, & robbe him of his best sustenaunce: therfore, where as ye haue buylded houses of square stone, ye shall not dwel in them. Maruelous pleasaunt vyneyardes shal ye plante, but the wyne of them shall ye not drynck: and why?

If thou seyst the poore to be oppressed and wrongeously dealt withall, so that equite & the right of the law is wrasted in the lande: maruell not thou at such iudgement, for one great man kepeth touch with another, and the mightye helpe them selfes together.

Who so doth a pore man wrong to increase his owne riches, geueth (commenly) vnto the rych, & at the last commeth to pouerte him selfe.

Now for the troubles sake of the oppressed, and because of the complainte of the poore I will vp (sayeth the Lord) I wil helpe them, & set them at rest.

Thys thou seyst, for thou consyderest the mysery and sorowe. The poore geueth him selfe ouer into thy hande, and committeth hym vnto the, for thou art the helper of the frendlesse.

Ye haue condempned, & haue kylled the iuste, & he hath not resisted you.

When Gallio was ruler of the countre of Achaia the Iewes made insurrection with one accorde agaynst Paule, & brought him to the iudgement seate

Thou cursest hys scepters, the captayne of men of warre: whiche come as a stormy wind to scatre me abroade, and are glad when they maye eate vp the poore secretely.

O heare thys worde ye fat kyne, that be vpon the hil of Samaria: ye that do poore men wronge, and oppresse the nedy: ye that saye to your Lordes: bring hyther, let vs drincke.

He shalbe the most simple, and despysed of all, which yet hath good experience of sorowes & infyrmyties. We shall reken him so symple and so vyle, that we shall hyde our faces from hym.

Then smyteth he, then oppresseth he and casteth downe the pore with his authoritye.

He sytteth lurckynge in the gardens, that he may pryuely murther the innocente, hys eyes are set vpon the poore.

While the vngodlye hath the ouer hand, the pore must suffer persecutyon. O that they were taken in the ymagynacion which they go aboute.

And why? he hath oppressed the poore, and not helped them: houses hath he spoyled, and not builded them.

Iesus aunswered: I haue not the deuyll: but I honoure my father, & ye haue dishonoured me.

The poore maketh supplicacyon & prayeth mekelye, but the ryche geueth a rough aunswere.

The rich ruleth the pore, & the borower is seruant to the lender.
