Yf anye man amonge you seme deuoute, & refrayne not his tonge, but deceyue his owne hert: thys mannes deuocyon is in vayne.

Let no fylthy communication procede out of your mouthes: but that whiche is good to edefye wyth all, when nede is: that it maye haue fauoure with the hearers.

Set a watch, O lorde, before my mouth, yea, a watch at the dore of my lippes.

If anye man longe after lyfe, and loueth to se good dayes, let him refrayne his tonge from euil, & his lippes that they speake not gyle.

Wherfore deare brethren, let euerye man be swyfte to heare, slowe to speake, and slow to wrath.

Ther is away that men thinke to be right but the ende thereof leadeth vnto death.

Take hede therfore how ye heare. For who soeuer hath, to hym shall be geuen: And whosoeuer hath not, from hym shal be taken, euen that same which he supposeth that he hath.

Yf anye man seme to hym selfe, that he is somwhat, when in dede he is nothynge the same deceyueth hym selfe in hys ymaginacyon.

Ther is a waye whiche some men thinke to be ryght, but the ende thereof leadeth vnto death.

But beware that youre hertes deceyue you not that ye turne asyde and serue straunge Gods & worshyp them,

Of them whiche seme to be great (what they were in time passed, it maketh no matter to me: God loketh on no mans person) neuerthelesse they which seme great, added nothing to me.

In vayne they worship me, teachynge doctrines whyche are nothyng but the commaundementes of men.

The kepyng of dust, and folishnesse of herte hath turned them asyde: so that none of them can haue a fre conscience to thyncke maye not I erre?

He coueteth and desyreth all the day longe, but the ryghtuous is alwaye geuynge, and kepeth nothynge backe.

by whiche also ye are saued: I do you to wit, after what maner I preached vnto you yf ye kepe it, except ye haue beleued in vaine.

but in vayne they worshippe me teaching doctrines, which are nothyng but mens preceptes.

Ye haue sayed. Is it but lost labour, to serue God? What profyt haue we for keping his commaundementes, and for walkinge humbly before the Lorde of Hostes?

Offre me no mo oblacions, for it is but loste laboure. I abhorre youre incense. I maye not awaye with youre new moones, youre Sabbathes and solempne dayes. Youre fastinges are also in vayne.

Ye and we are founde false witnesses of God. For we haue testifyed of God, howe that he raysed vp Christe, whom he raysed not vp yf it be so that the deade ryse not vp againe.

When the prophecye is in the lyppes of the kynge, hys mouth shal not go wronge in iudgment.

A wise tonge commendeth knowledg, a folysh mouth blabbeth oute no thynge but folyshnesse.

Be not ye now like horses & mules, which haue no vnderstandyng. Whose mouthes thou must hold with bit and bridle, if they wil not obey the.

Wylt thou vnderstande (O thou vayne man) that fayth without dedes is dead?

So many thinges then ye haue suffered in vaine, yf that be vayne.

Let no man deceyue hym selfe. Yf anye man seme, wyse amonge you, let hym be a fole in thys worlde that he maye be wyse.

that thy mynde is so puft vp against God & lettest such wordes go out of thy mouth?

For the Lorde hath opened his quyuer, he had hyt me, and put a brydle in my mouthe.
