The multytude of the priestes is lyke an heape of theues murtherers and bloudthursty: for they haue wroughte abhomynacyon.

Which as they kylled the Lorde Iesus and theyr owne prophetes, euen so haue they persecuted vs, and God they please not, and are contrarye to all men,

There is not a godlye man vpon earth, there is not one ryghtuous amonge men. They laboure al to shed bloud, and euery man hunteth his brother to death:

When I vndertake to make Israel whole, then the vngracyousnes of Ephraim and the wickednes of Samaria commeth to lyght: then go they aboute with lyes. At home, they be theues: & withoute they fall to robbinge.

Lyke as a conduyte aboundeth in water, euen so thys cytye aboundeth in wyckednes. Robberye and vnrightuousnesse is heard in her, sorow and woundes are euer there in my sight.

And I saw the wyfe drounken with the bloude of Saynctes, and with the bloud of the wytnesses of Iesu. And when I saw her, I wondred wyth great maruayle.

Whyche of the prophetes haue not your fathers persecuted? And they haue slayne them, which shewed before of the comminge of the iuste whom ye haue nowe betrayed and mordred.

that vpon you may come all the ryghtuous bloude that was shede vpon the earth, from the bloude of ryghtuous Abel, vnto the bloude of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whom ye slewe betwene the tempel and the aulter.

Thus sayeth the Lord of Hostes: Execute true iudgement: shew mercy & louinge kindnesse, euery man to his brother.

Then sayd he vnto me: This is the cursse that goeth forth ouer the whole earth: for all theues shal be iudged after this boke, & all swearers shalbe iudged accordynge to the same,

Wo to the abhomynable, fylthy & cruell cytie:

Shulde I not be displeased, for the vnrightuous good in the houses of the wycked, and because the measure hys mynyshed?

O heare this ye rulers of the house of Iacob, and ye iudges of the house of Israell: ye that abhorre the thynge that is laufull, and wrayst asyde the thynge that is streyght.

But ye hate the good, and loue the euell: ye plucke of mennes skynnes, and the flesh from their bones:

But Ephraim hathe prouoked hym to displeasure thorow his obhominacious, therfore shall his bloude be poured vpon him self and the Lord his God shall rewarde him his blasphemies.

They comen together, and sweare vayn othes: they be confederate together, therefore groweth their punyshement, as the wedes in the forowes of the lande.

They make the kinge & the princes, to haue pleasure in their wickednes and lyes.

They kyl sacryfyces by heapes to begyle the people therwith: therfore wyll I punyshe them al.

Mem. Whiche neuertheles is come to passe for the synnes of her prophetes, and for the wyckednes of her Prestes that haue shed innocentes bloude with in her.

Heare this, O thou house of Iacob: ye that are called by the name of Israel, and are come oute of one stocke with Iuda, whiche sweare by the name of the Lorde, & beare wytnesse by the God of Israell (but not with trueth & righte)

For the earth is corrupt of her indwellers. For why? they haue offended the law chaunged the ordynaunces, & made the euerlasting testament of none effecte.

And Cayn talked with Abel hys brother. And as soone as they were in the feldes, Cayn fell vpon Abell hys brother, & slewe hym.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vaine: for the Lord wyl not hold him giltles, that thaketh hys name in vaine.

Thou shalt not breake wedlocke.

As for Israel and Iuda, they shal not be forsaken of theyr God, of the Lorde of Hostes, of the holy one of Israel: no, thoughe they haue fylled all theyr lande full of synne.

I wyll make clene ryddaunse, for the land is whole defiled with vnrightuous iudgement of innocent bloud & the citie is full of abhomynacyons.

Galaad is a city of wycked doers, of malycious people and bloudshedders.

All these burne in aduoutrye, as it were an ouen that the baker heateth, when he hath lefte kneadynge, till the dowe be leuended.

But nowe they haue plowed them wyckednesse, therfore shall they reape synne, & eat the frute of lyes. Seynge thou puttest thy confydence in thyne owne wayes, and leanest to the multitude of thy worthyes:

But Ephraim goeth about me with lyes, & the house of Israel dissembleth. Onelye Iuda beholdeth him with God, and with the true holy thinges.
