And now they synne more and more: of their syluer, they make them molten Images, lyke the Idoles of the Heathen, and yet al is nothinge but the worcke of the craftesmre. Notwithstandinge they preach of the same: who so wil kisse the calues, offreth to men.

But this woulde she not knowe, where as I yet gaue her corne, wyne, oyle, syluer & gold, whiche she hath hangeth vpon Baal.

But thou after thyne harde herte that can not repente, heapeste the together the treasure of wrath againste the daye of vengaunce, when shall be opened the rightuous iudgement of God,

Therfore shall the swerde beginne in their cities, the stoare that they haue laied vp, shalbe destroyed and eaten: and that because of their own ymaginacyons.

Israel was a goodly vyne, but he hath brought forth vnprofytable frute: yea, the more frute he had, the mo aulters he made: the more good I dyd to their lande, the more frendshyppe shewed they to their Images.

For the calfe came from Israel, the worcke man made it, therfore can it be no God but euen to a spyders webbe shall the calfe of Samaria be turned.

They haue ordeyned kinges, but not thorowe me: they haue made princes, and I must not know of it. Of their siluer and golde haue they made them Images, to bringe them selues to destruccion.

Consydre this well, & be ashamed Go in to youre owne selues (O ye runnagates.)

Let them be gathered and come together, lett them drawe nye hyther, that are escaped of the people: Haue they eny vnderstandynge, that set vp the stockes of their Idols, & praie vnto a God, that cannot helpe them?

Wo be to those shrynkynge children (sayeth the Lorde) whiche seke councell, but not at me: whiche take a webbe in hande but not after my wil: that they may heape one synne vpon another.

Wherfore shulde ye be plaged any more? For ye are euer fallyng away. The whole head is sick, & the herte is very heauy.

Kysse the sonne, lest the Lorde be angrye and so ye peryshe from the ryght way. For his wrath shalbe kindled shortly: blessed are all they that put their trust in hym.

& mekened not him selfe before the Lorde as Manasseh hys father had mekened him selfe: But Amon trespaced greatly.

and sayde vnto them: ye shall not bringe in the captiues hether. For where we haue offended the Lorde all readye, ye entende to adde more to oure synnes and trespace. For oure trespace is great all readye, and there is fearce wrath vpon Israel.

And then Samuel toke a boxe of oyle, & poured it vpon his head & kissed him & sayd: the Lord hath annoynted the to be a captaine ouer his enheritaunce.

And beholde, ye are rysen vp in your fathers steade, to the encrease of synfull men, and to augment the fearse wrath of the lord to Israell warde.

They are all together vnlearned and vnwyse. All theyr conninge is but vanyte:

And where as Ephraim is become partaker of Idols, wel, let him go.

Thy calf, O Samaria, shall be taken away. for my wrothfull indignacion is gone forthe agaynst the. How longe will it be, or they can be clensed?

They that dwell in Samaria haue worshipped the calfe of Bethauen: therfore shall the people mourne ouer them: yea, and the priestes also, that in their welthynesse reioysed wyth them: and why? it shall passe awaye from them.

Assur shalbe no more oure helper, nether wyl we ryde vpon horses any more. As for the worckes of our handes, we wil no more cal vpon them: For it is thou that arte oure God, thou shewest euer mercye vnto the fatherlesse.

Beholde, all the felowshyppe of them must be brought to confusyon. Let all the worckmaisters of them come and stande together from amonge men: they must be abashed and confounded one with another.

Wherfore then is this people and Ierusalem gone to farre backe, that they turne not agayne. They are euer the longer the more obstynate, & wyl not be conuerted.

But the more they were called the more they went backe, offeringe vnto Idols, and ceasinge Images.
