Hosea 1:10

Matthew's Bible 1537

And thoughe the nombre of the chyldren of Israel be as the sand of the sea, which can neyther be measured nor tolde: yet in the place where it is sayde vnto them, ye be not my people, euen there shal it be thus reported of them: they be the chyldren of the lyuynge God.

and wyll be a father vnto you, and ye shall be vnto me sonnes and doughters, sayth the Lorde almyghtye.

But as manye as receyued him to them he gaue power to be the sonnes of God in that they beleued on his name

I wyll saye to the North, let go. And to the South, kepe not backe: but bringe me my sonnes from farre, and my daughters from the endes of the worlde:

I will sowe them vpon earth, for a sede to mine owne selfe, & will haue mercye vpon her, that was without mercy. And to them, which were not my people, I wil say: thou arte my people: and he shal say: thou art my God.

and shall bringe all oure brethren for an offerynge vnto the Lorde, oute of all people vpon horses, charettes and horse litters, vpon Males and cartes to Ierusalem my holy hill (sayeth the Lorde) like as the children of Israel brynge the offerynge in cleane vessels, to the house of the Lorde.

And I wyll make thy sede, as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can numbre the duste of the earth, then shall thy sede also be numbred.

Then sayd he: cal his name Lo amy. For why? ye are not my people, therfore wyll I not be youres.

that I wyll blesse the & multiplie thy seed as the starres of heauen and as the sande vpon the sea syde. And thy seed shall possesse the gates of hys enymies.

And therfore spronge thereof one (& of one whiche was as good as deade) so manye in multitude, as the starres of the skye, and as the sande of the sea shore whiche is innumerable.

Thou saydest that thou wouldest surely do me good, and wouldest make my sede as the sande of the sea, whyche canne not be numbred for multitude.

For lyke as the starres of heauen may not be nombred, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multyplie the seade of Dauid my seruaunt, and of the Leuites my mynisters.

Thy sede shalbe lyke as the sande in the sea, and the frute of thy body, lyke the grauel stones therof. Thy name shal not be roted oute, nor destroyed before me.

Also the feruente desyre of the creatures abydeth lokynge when the sonnes of God shal appere,

Yet art thou oure father: For Abraham knoweth vs not, neither is Israel acquainted with vs. But thou Lorde art oure father and redemer and thy name is euerlastinge.

But now O Lorde, thou father of oures: we are al the claye, and thou art our potter & we are al the worke of thy handes.

They shal seke my, that hytherto haue not asked for me: they shall fynde me, that hitherto haue not sought me. Then shal I say immediatly to the people that neuer called vpon my name: I am here, I am here.

My commaundement is, in al my dominion & kingedome, that men feare and stande in awe of Daniels God. For he is the liuinge God, whiche abydeth euer: his kingedome shall not fayle, and hys power is euerlasting.

And thou haste ordeyned thy people Israel to be thy people for euer. And thou Lorde arte theyr God.
