But after they prouoked hym to wrath, and vexed hys holy mynd, he was their enemye, and fought against them him selfe.

it repenteth me that I haue made Saul King. For he is turned from me, & hath not parformed my commaundementes, wherfore Samuel was euyl apayde & cryed vnto the Lord all nyght.

And when the Aungel stretched out his hand vnto Ierusalem to haue destroyed it, the Lord had compassion to do that euyl, and sayde to the Aungel that destroyed the people: it is suffycyent: let thyne hande cease. And the aungell was at the thressinge place of Areunah the Iebusite.

The Lorde is not a man, that he can lye, neither the sonne of man that he can repente: should he saye and not do, or shoulde he speake and not make it good?

And when God sawe their workes, how they turned from their wicked wayes, he repented on the euell, whych he sayde he wolde do vnto them, and dyd it not.

rente your hertes & not youre clothes. Turne you vnto the Lorde youre God, for he is gracyons and mercyfull, longe sufferyng and of great compassyon, & ready to pardone wickednes.

And the Lord refrained him selfe from the euil whych he sayed he wold do vnto his people.

Tell them: As trulye as I lyue, sayeth the Lorde God, I haue no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but moch rather that the wicked turne from his waye and lyue. Turne you, turne you from your vngodlye wayes, O ye of the house of Israell. Oh, wherfore wyll ye dye?

Dyd Ezekiah the kyng of Iuda, & the people of Iuda put him to death for this? No, verely but rather feared the Lord, & made their prayer vnto hym. For the whiche cause also the Lorde repented of the plage, that he had deuysed agaynst them. Shulde we then do suche a shamefull dede agaynst oure soules:

And God sent the Aungel to Ierusalem to destroye it. And as he was about to destroye, the Lorde behelde and had compassion on the wretchednesse, and sayde to the Aungell that destroyed, it is ynoughe, nowe cease thyne hand. And the Aungel of the Lorde stode by the thressyng floure of Ornan the Iebusite.

Yf thou wilt now regarde my commaundement, thy welthynes shalbe as the water streame, and thy ryghteousnes as the waues flowynge in the sea.

He thought vpon hys couenaunt, and pytyed them, accordyng vnto the multytude of hys mercyes.

But Samuel came no more to se Saule vntyll the day of hys death. Neuerthelesse Samuel mourned for Saule, because the Lorde repented that he had made hym Kyng ouer Israel.

For the Lorde wyll do iustice vnto hys people, & haue compassion on hys seruauntes For it shalbe sene that theyr power shall fayle, & at the last they shalbe prisoned & forsaken.

I would they were wyse and vnderstode thys & woulde consider their later ende.

Oh that they had such an hert wyth them to feare me and kepe al my commaundementes alway, that it myght go wel with them & with theyr children foreuer.

Euery good gyfte, and euerye perfecte gyfte, is from aboue and commeth doune from the father of lyght wyth whome is no varyablenes, neyther is he chaunged vnto darkenes.

But wyth whome was he depleased .xl. yeares? Was he not displeased wyth them that synned, whose carkases were ouerthrowen in the deserte?

For I am the lord that chaunge not, and ye (O children of Iacob) wyll not leaue of:

What greate thinges haue I geuen the, O Ephraim? how faythfully haue I defended the, O Israel? haue I dealt wt the as with Adama? or haue I entreated the lyke Seboim? No, my herte is otherwyse minded. Yea, my mercye is to feruent:

It greueth me, when I se, that the transgressours kepe not thy law.

The Lorde sware, and wyll not repente: Thou arte a priest for euer after the order of Melchisedec.

.xl. yeares long was I greued with the generacion, & sayd: they euer erre in their hertes, they verely haue not knowen my wayes.

O that my people wolde obeye me, for if Israel wolde walke in my wayes:

O how ofte haue they greued hym in the wyldernesse? How many a tyme haue they prouoked hym in the deserte?

For verelye the giftes and callyng of god are suche, that it cannot repente hym of them,

And sayd: I wyl destroy mankynde whych I haue made, from of the face of the erth: both man, beast, worme and foule of the ayre, for it repenteth me that I haue made them.

When I take in hande to rote out, to destroye, or to waste awaye eny people or kingdome:
