Dina the doughter of Lea whiche she bare to Iacob, went out to se the doughters of the land.

After that she bare a daughter, & called hyr Dina.

O how euill wil it before the, to abyde it, when it shalbe knowne, how oft thou hast gone bacwarde? For thou shalt be confounded, as well of Egipte, as of the Assirians:

And also they learne to go from house to house ydle, ye not ydle onelye, but also tryflynge and busybodyes speakynge thynges whiche are not comely.

These be the chyldren of Lea whiche she bare vnto Iacob in Mesopotamia with hys daughter Dina. All these soules of hys sonnes and doughters make .xxx. and .iij.

Then sayd Lea: happy am I, for the doughters wil call me blessed. And called his name Asser.

When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Iacob, & sent him to Mesopotamia, to fet him a wyfe thence, & that as he blessed him he gaue him a charge, saying: se thou take not a wife of the daughters of Canaan:

And Rebecca spake to Isaac: I am werye of my life, for feare of the doughters of Heth. If Iacob take a wife of the doughters of Heth, such one as these are, or of the daughters of the land, what lust shold I haue to lyue.

When Esau was .xl. yere old, he toke to wyfe Iudith the doughter of Bery an Hethyte, & Basmath the doughter of Elou an Hethite,

to be dyscret, chast, huswyfly, good & obedyent vnto theyr owne husbandes, that the word of God be not euyl spoken of.

And he made ther an aulter, & there called vpon the myghty God of Israel.
