Lyke as syluer is tryed in the fyre and golde in the fornace, euen so doeth the Lorde proue the hertes.

But when the Ambassadoures of the Lordes of Babylon were sent to hym to enquyre of the wondre that chaunsed in the land, God lefte hym: to tempte hym, that all that was in hys herte myght be knowen.

Than sayd the Lord vnto Moses: behold I wyl rayne bred from heauen doune to you, & let the people go out, & gather day by daye that I maye proue them whether they wyll walke in my lawe or no.

herken not vnto the wordes of the prophete, or dreamer of dreames. For the Lord thy God tempteth you to wete whether ye loue the Lord your God wt all youre hertes & wyth all your soules.

and that to proue Israel through them whether they wyll kepe the waye of the Lord to walke therin, as their fathers dyd or not.

And the Lorde was wrath again agaynst Israel, and stered vp Dauid against them sayinge: go and nombre bothe Israel & Iuda.

The Lorde seith bothe the righteous and vngodly, but who so delyteth in wickednes, hym hys soule abhorreth.

After these dedes, the worde of God, came vnto Abram in a vision sayinge: Feare not Abram, I am thy shyld, and thy rewarde shall be exceadynge greate.

But the wordes semed verey greauous in Abrahams syghte, because of his sonne.

and Israel sayde vnto Ioseph: do not thy brethren kepe in Sichem? come that I may sende the to them. And he answered here am I.

And God sayd vnto Israel in a visyon by nyghte, & called vnto him: Iacob Iacob. And he answered: here am I.

And the Lorde called Samuel: & he sayd: here am I,
