Who can tell the dust of Iacob and the numbre of the fourth parte of Israell. I pray God that my soul may dye the death of the rightuous and that my laste ende may be lyke his.
And thy sede shal be as the dust of the earth: and thou shalt spreade abrode: weste, easte, north, and south. And thorowe the and thy sede shal al the kynreds of the earth be blessed.
Remember Abraham, Isaac and Israel thy seruauntes, to whom thou sworest by thyne owne selfe & saidest vnto them. I wyll multiplye youre seed as the starres of heauen, and all thys lande which I haue sayd, I wyll geue vnto youre seede: and they shal enheret it for euer
that I wyll blesse the & multiplie thy seed as the starres of heauen and as the sande vpon the sea syde. And thy seed shall possesse the gates of hys enymies.
And he brought him out of the dores, & sayd: loke vp vnto heauen, & tel the stars, if thou be able to numbre them. And said vnto hym: Euen so shal thy sede be.
After this I behelde, and lo a greate multitude (which no man coulde numbre) of al nacions and people, and tonges, stode before the seate, and before the lambe, clothed wyth longe whyte garmentes, and palmes in their handes,
For lyke as the starres of heauen may not be nombred, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multyplie the seade of Dauid my seruaunt, and of the Leuites my mynisters.
and gaue the nombre of the counte of the people vnto Dauid. And al Israel were in nombre a thousand thousande, and an hundred thousande men that drewe swerde: and Iuda was .cccc.lxx. thousand men that drewe swerde.
for they came wyth theyr cattell & housholdes euen as greshopers in multitude: so that both they & also theyr camels were wythoute nombre. And they entrede the land to destroy it.
And God sayd vnto hym: I am God almighty, growe & multiplye: for people and a multitude of people shall sprynge of the, yea & kinges shal come out of thy loynes.
& wyl multiply thy sede as the stars of heauen, & will gyue vnto thy sede al these contries. And thorow thi sede shal all the nacions of the earth be blessed,
And as concernynge Ismaell also, I haue herde thy request: loo, I wyll blesse hym and encrease hym, and multiplye hym excedyngly. Twelue princes shall he begette and I wyl make a greate nacion of hym.
And therfore spronge thereof one (& of one whiche was as good as deade) so manye in multitude, as the starres of the skye, and as the sande of the sea shore whiche is innumerable.
But the Lorde had mercye on them & pytyed them, & turned to them, because of hys appoyntment made with Abraham, Isaac & Iacob, & wolde not destroye them, ether caste them from hym as yet.
