The Lorde bryngeth the counsayl of the Heythen to naught, and turneth the deuyces of the people.

Destroye their tonges (O Lorde) and deuyde them, for I se vnrighteousnes & stryfe in the cytye.

And God sayde: let vs make man in oure similitude & after our lycknesse: that he may haue rule ouer the fysh of the sea, and ouer the foules of the ayre, & ouer catell, and ouer all the erth, and ouer all wormes that crepe on the erth.

Yf therfore when all the congregation is come together, and all speake wyth tounges, there come in they that are vnlearned, or they whyche beleue not: wyll they not saye that ye are out of your wyttes?

Lo, I wyll bryng a people vpon you from farre, O house of Israel (sayeth the Lorde) a myghtye people, and olde people, a people whose speache thou knowest not, neyther vnderstandest what they saye.

Neuerthelesse he that dwelleth in heauen, shall laughe them to scorne: yea euen the Lorde hym selfe shall haue them in derysyon.

He taketh the verite from out of the mouth, & disapoynteth the aged of their wysdome.

And the Lord shal brynge a nacyon vpon the from a farre, euen from the ende of the world, as swyfte as an egle flyeth: a nacyon whose tonge thou shalt not vnderstande:

After thys I heard the voyce of the Lord takyng aduysement on thys maner: Whome shall I sende, & who wylbe oure messenger? Then I sayde: here am I, sende me.

They were not aware that Ioseph vnderstode them, for he spake vnto them by an interpreter.

And the Lord came downe to se the city and the tower which the children of Adam had builded.

These are the kinredes of the sonnes of Noe, in their generations & nations. And of these came the People that were in the worlde after the floude.

Of these came the Isles of the Gentils in theyr countryes, euery man in hys speach kynred, & nation.

And the Lord sayed vnto hym: who hath made mans mouthe, or who hath made the dombe or the deaffe, the seynge or the blind? haue not I the Lord?

There shalt thou not se a people of a straunge tounge to haue so diffused a language, that it may not be vnderstande: neyther so straunge a speache but it shall be perceyued.
