and Paule layed hys handes vpon them, and the holy Ghoste came on them, and they spake wyth tonges and prophecied,

Ananias went hys waye and entred into the house, and put his handes on him, & said: brother Saul the Lord that appeared vnto the in the waye as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou myghtest receiue thy sight, and be fylled with the holy ghoste.

But he beynge full of the holye ghoste: loked vp stedfastly wyth his eyes into heauen, and sawe the glorye of God, & Iesus standynge on the ryghte hand of God,

For Iohn baptysed with water: but ye shal be baptised with the holy ghost, and that wyth in thys feawe dayes.

Though that propheciynge fayle, other tounges shall cease, or knowledge vanishe awaye, yet loue falleth neuer awaye.

Thought I speake with tounges of men and angels, and yet had no loue, I were euen as soundinge brasse, or as a tynklinge Cimbal.

Then Saul which also is called Paul being full of the holy ghost set hys eyes on hym,

Grekes, and Arabians: we haue heard them speake: wyth our owne tounges the great workes of God.

For the holye ghost shal teache you in the same houre, what ye ought to saye.

I woulde that ye all spake with tounges: but rather that ye prophecyed. For greater is he that prophecieth, then he that speaketh with tounges, excepte he expounde it also, that the congregacion maye haue edifiyng.

And as I began to preach, the holy ghost fell on them, as he dyd on vs at the beginninge.

And the saiynge pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephan a man full of faieth and of the holye ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nichanor, and Timon, and Permenas, and Nicholas a conuerte of Antioche.

Wherfore brethren, loke ye out amonge you seuen men of honeste reporte, and full of the holye ghoste and wysdome, whyche we maye apoint to this nedfull busines.

but ye shall receiue power of the holy ghost, whiche shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses vnto me in Hierusalem, and in al Iewrye, and in Samary and euen vnto the worldes ende.

For he shalbe greate in the syght of the Lorde, and shall neyther drinke wyne nor stronge drinke. And he shalbe fylled with the holy ghost, euen in his mothers wombe:

I wyll make this couenaunt with them (sayeth the Lorde): My spirite that is come vpon the, and the wordes whyche I haue put in thy mouthe, shall neuer go out of thy mouthe, nor oute of the mouth of thy childers chyldren, from this tyme forth for euermore.

And therfore the Lorde also shall speake wyth lispynge lippes and with a straunge language vnto this people to whome he spake afore of thys maner.

the spyryt of the Lord spake in me, and his wordes were on my tonge.

And praye all wayes wyth all maner prayer and supplicacion: and that in the spirite, and watch therunto with all instaunce and supplication for all sainctes,

and to knowe, what is the loue of Christe, whyche loue passeth knowledge, that ye myghte be fulfylled wyth all maner of fulnes, whiche cometh of God.

For he was a good man, and ful of the holy ghoste and of faith: and much people was added vnto the Lord.

And Stephane ful of fayth and power, dyd greate wounders and miracles amonge the people.

For I wyll geue you a mouthe and wisdome, where against all youre aduersaries shall not be able to speake nor resyste.

And his father Zacharias was fylled with the holye ghost, and prophecied sayinge:

And it fortuned as Elysabeth hearde the salutacion of Marye, the babe spronge in her belly. And Elizabeth was fylled with the holye ghost,

When thei came to the hyll, beholde, the company of prophetes met him, & the sprite of God came vpon him, & he prophesyed among them.

For the scrypture came neuer by the wyl of man, but holye men of God spake as they were moued by the holy ghoste.

and go to the presoners of thy people, speake vnto them, and saye on this maner: Thus the Lorde God hath spoken: whether ye heare, or heare not.

And therfore I am so ful of thyne indignacyon (O Lorde) that I maye suffre no longer. Shede oute thy wrath vpon the children that are withoute, and vpon all younge men. Yea the man must be taken presoner with the wife, and the aged with the crepel.

& sayd vnto her: how long wilt thou be droncken? put away from the, the wine that thou hast

And there appeared vnto them clouen tounges, lyke as they had bene fyre, and it sate vpon eche of them,

Then laied they theyr handes on them & they receiued the holy ghost.

Can anye man forbydde water that these shoulde not be baptysed, whiche haue receyued the holye ghoste as well as we?

And God which knoweth the herte bare them wytnes, and gaue vnto them the holy ghost, euen as he dyd vnto vs:
