Then came certayne from Iewrye, and taughte the brethren: excepte ye be circumcised after the maner of Moyses, ye can not be saued.

For in Iesu Christ nether is circumcysion any thing worth, neyther yet vncircumcysyon, but fayth which by loue is myghtye in operacyon.

Then arose there vp certayne that were of the secte of the Pharises which dyd beleue, saying, that it was nedefull, to circumcyse them and to enioyne them to kepe the lawe of Moyses.

Beware least anye man come and spoyle you thorowe philosophie and disceitful vanitie, thorowe the tradicions of men, and ordinaunces after the world, and not after Christ.

And in the .viij. daye the flesh of the chyldes foreskynne shalbe cut awaye.

For as muche as we haue hearde that certayne whiche departe from vs, haue troubled you with wordes, and combred your myndes, saiynge: Ye must be circumcysed, and kepe the lawe, to whom we gaue no suche commaundement.

Moyses therfore gaue vnto you circuncisyon: not because it is of Moises, but of the fathers. And yet ye on the Saboth daye, circumcyse a man.

Then .xiiij. yeares after that, I went vp agayne to Hierusalem with Barnabas, and toke with me Titus also.

And after they were brought on theyr waye by the congregacyon, they passed ouer Phenices and Samaria declarynge the conuersyon of the Gentyls, and they brought great ioye vnto all the brethren.

for we hearde him saie: this Iesus of Nazareth shall destroye this place, and shal chaung the ordinaunces, which Moises gaue vs.

Let no man therfore trouble youre consciences aboute meate and drincke, or for a peace of an holye daye, as the holy daye of the new mone, or of the Saboth dayes,

And when they hearde it, they glorifyed the Lorde, and sayed vnto hym: thou seest brother, howe manye thousande Iewes there are that beleue, & they are all zelous ouer the lawe.

Then pleased it the Apostles and elders with the whole congregacion, to sende chosen men of theyr owne companye to Antioche wt Paule and Barnabas. They sent Iudas called also Barsabas and Sylas, whiche were chiefe men among the brethren,

And in those dayes Peter stode vp in the myddes of the dyscyples and sayde (the numbre of names that were together, were about an hundred and twenty)

and gaue them letters in theyr handes after thys maner. The Apostles, elders, and brethren sende gretynges vnto the brethren whiche are of the gentyls in Antioche, Syria, and Celicia.

And Iudas and Sylas beynge prophetes, exhorted the brethren with muche preachyng, and strengthed them.

As manye as desyre with vtwarde apperaunce to please carnallye, they coustrayne you to be circumcysed, onelye because they woulde not suffer persecucyon with the crosse of Christe.
