There were at Antioche in the congregacyon certayne Prophetes and teachers: as Barnabas and Symon called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, & Manahen. Herode the Tetrarkes noursfelowe. and Saule.

And Ioses who was also called of the Apostles Barnabas (that is to say the sonne of consolation) beynge a Leuite, and of the country of Cipers,

Paule and Barnabas contynued in Antioche teachynge and preachynge the worde of the Lorde with other manye.

and therfore when they perceyued the grace that was geuen vnto me, then Iames, Cephas, and Iohn, whiche semed to be pyllars, gaue to me & Barnabas the ryght handes, & agreed with vs, that we should preach amonge the Heathen, and they amonge the Iewes,

Then Saul which also is called Paul being full of the holy ghost set hys eyes on hym,

And the very same made some Apostles, some Prophetes, some Euangelistes, some sheperdes, some teachers,

And Iudas and Sylas beynge prophetes, exhorted the brethren with muche preachyng, and strengthed them.

And in the .xv. yeare of the raygne of Tiberius the Emperoure, Pontius Pilate beiynge lieftenaunte of Iury, and Herode beyinge Tethrarch of Galyle, and hys brother Philippe Tethrarchin Iturea & in the region of Traconytes, and Lysanyas the Tetrarche of Abilene,

All the sainctes salute you, and most of all they, which are of the Emperours houshholde.

And the other Iewes dissembled lykewyse, in so muche that Barnabas was brought into theyr simulacyon also.

Either onely I and Barnabas haue not power this to do?

Timotheus my worcke felowe and Lucyos and Iason and Sosipater my kynsmen, salute you.

The same man had foure doughters virgens which dyd prophesy.

and Paule layed hys handes vpon them, and the holy Ghoste came on them, and they spake wyth tonges and prophecied,

Whiche thynge they also dyd, and sente it to the elders, by the handes of Barnabas and Saule.

And Barnabas and Paul returned to Hierusalem, when they had fulfylled theyr offyce, and toke with them Iohn whiche also called Marcus.

And Saul yet breathynge out threatening & slaughter against the Disciples of the Lorde, went vnto the hye priest,

And as they came out, they found a man of Cyren named Symon: him they compelled to beare his crosse.

Euery man praiynge or prophesiynge hauing any thinge on his heade, shameth his head.

And though I could prophecye, and vnderstande all secretes, and all knowledge: yea, yf I had all fayth so that I coulde moue mountaines out of theyr places, and yet had no loue, I were nothing.

Though that propheciynge fayle, other tounges shall cease, or knowledge vanishe awaye, yet loue falleth neuer awaye.

Let the Prophetes speake two at ones, or thre at ones, and let other iudge.

For the spirites of the Prophetes are in the power of the Prophetes.
