And Dauid & hys men went & ranne vpon the Gesurites, the Gerzites and Amalekites: whyche nacions were from the begynnyng the enhabyters of the land, as men go to Sur, and so forthe to Egypte.

These are the sonnes of Dauid, which were borne hym in Hebron: the eldest Amnon of Ahinoam the Iesraelitesse. The seconde Daniel by Abigaill the Carmelitesse.

And Absalom said to Ioab: beholde, I sente for the desyringe the to come, because I wolde haue sente the to the Kinge, for to saye: Wherfore am I come from Gesur: It had bene as good for me to haue bidden there styll. Now therfor let me come to the kynges presence, or els yf there be any trespace in me, kyll me.

And at fourtye yeres ende Absalom sayde vnto the kynge: let me go I praye the to Hebron, & paye my vowe which I haue vowed, vnto the Lorde:

for thy seruaunt vowed a vowe when I was in Gesur in the land of Siria saying: yf the Lord shall brynge me agayne to Ierusalem, I wyl serue the Lorde.

And hys father rebuked hym not at anye tyme nor sayde so muche to him, as why doest thou so? And he was therto a goodly man, and hys mother bare him next after Absalom.

And he sayde: thou knowest that the kyngdome was myne, and that all Israel put their eyes on me, that I shoulde raygne, howe be it the kyngdome was turned away and geuen to my brother, for it was appoynted hym of te Lorde:

The thirde Absalom the sonne of Maacah doughter of Tholmai kinge of Gesur. The fourth Adoniah the sonne of Hagith.

And so Ioab arose & went to Gesur & broughte Absalom to Ierusalem.
