And the men of Iuda came and there anoynted Dauid kynge ouer the house of Iuda. When it was tolde Dauid, howe the men of Iabes in Galaad had buryed Saule,
And so all the elders of Israell came to the kynge to Hebron. And Kynge Dauid made a couenaunt wyth them in Hebron before the Lord. And they anoynted Dauid Kynge ouer Israell.
And when al the elders of Israel were come to the kynge to Hebron, Dauid made a couenaunt with them there before the Lorde. And they annoynted Dauid king ouer Israell, accordynge to the worde of the Lorde by the hand of Samuel.
And Samuel toke the horne with the oyntment and annoynted him in the presens of hys brethren. And the spryte of the Lord came vpon Dauid, from that daye forwarde. And Samuel rose vp and went to Ramath.
And al the men of Iuda answered the men of Israel: for the kinge is nere of kinne to vs: wherfore be ye angry for that master? thyncke ye that we eate of the kinges cost, or that the king geueth vs any gyftes
And kinge Dauid sent to Sadock & Abiathar the priestes saying: speake vnto the elders of Iuda and saye: why should ye be the last that shoulde brynge agayne the kynge to his house, seynge that suche tydynges is come from all Israel vnto the kynge euen to hys house?
But when the Philistines heard that they had anoynted Dauid King ouer Israel, they came al vp to seke Dauid. And as sone as Dauid hearde of it, he gat hym to an hold.
And now let your handes stere them & playe ye the men, though your mayster Saule be deade. And finallye vnderstande that the house of Iuda haue anointed me kyng ouer them.
And this is the numbre of the heades prepared to battel, that came to Dauid to Hebron, to turne the kyngdom of Saul to hym, accordinge to the mouth of the Lord.
he went & toke the bones of Saul & of Ionathas his sonne, of the men of Iabes in Galaad, which they hath stolen from the strete of Bethsan, where the Philistines had hanged them in the dayes when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gelboe:
And he broughte oute the sonne of the kynge, & put the croune vpon hym, & delyuered hym the wytnesse, and made hym kynge, and annoynted hym. And they clapte theyr handes and sayd: God saue the kynge.
