If al these thinges shal perishe, what maner persons ought ye to be in holye conuersacyon and Godlynes:

but as he whiche called you is holye, euen so be ye holy in all maner of conuersacyon,

Onlye let your conuersation be as it becommeth the Gospell of Christ, that whether I come and se you, or els be absent, I maye yet heare of you, that ye continue in one spyrite, and in one soule, labouring as we do, to mayntayne the fayth of the Gospell,

and se that ye haue honest conuersacyon amonge the Gentyls, that they whiche backbyte you as euyll doars, maye se youre good workes and prayse God in the daye of visitacyon.

lokynge for and hasting vnto the comminge of the daye of God, in which the heauens shall perishe with fyre, & the elementes shalbe consumed wyth heat.

But thou which arte the man of GOD, flye suche thynges. Folowe ryghtuousnes. Godlynes, loue, pacyence and mekenes.

So can no fountayne geue both salte water & freshe also. If any man be wyse and endued wyth learnynge amonge you, let hym shewe the workes of hys good conuersacyon in mekenes that is coupled with wysdome.

But oure conuersation is in heauen, from whence we loke for a sauiour, euen the Lorde Iesus Christ,

All the starres of heauen shalbe consumed, & the heauen shall folde together lyke a roll, & all the starres therof shal fall, lyke as the leaues fall from the vynes & fygetrees.

Mourne ye portes, wepe ye cities, and feare thou (O whole Palestina) for there shall come from the North a smoke, whose power noman may abyde.

Accordinge as hys godlye power hath geuen vnto vs al thinges that pertayne vnto lyfe and godlines, thorowe the knowledge of him that hath called vs by vertue & glory,

These thynges teache and exhorte. Yf any man teache otherwyse, and is not contente wt the holsome wordes of our Lord Iesus christ, and wyth the doctryne of Godlynes,

Let no man despyse thy youthe: but be vnto them that beleue, an ensample, in worde in conuersacyon, in loue, in spyryte, in fayth & in purenes.

And the men maruayled and sayed: what man is this, that both wyndes and sea obey hym?

The earh is weake and al that is therein, but I beare vp her pyllers.

Who so offreth me thankes and prayse, he honoureth me: & this is the way, wherby I wyll shewe hym the sauynge healthe of God.

For assone as he hath loked on hym selfe, he goeth hys waye, and forgetteth immediatly what hys fashyon was.

And wythout naye greate is that mysterye of godlynes: God was shewed in the fleshe, was iustified in the spirite, was sene of aungels, was preached vnto the gentils, was beleued on in earth and receyued vp in glory.

For oure Gospell came not to you in worde onelye, but also in power, and in the holye Ghoste, and in muche certaintie, as ye know after what maner we behaued our selues among you, for your sakes.

Godlynes is greate ryches, yf a man be content with that he hath.

The earthe shall geue a greate cracke, it shall haue a sore ruyne, & taken an horrible fall.

and in knowledge temperancie, and in temperauncie, pacience, in pacience, Godlynes,

Let your conuersacyon be wythoute couetuousnes, and be content wyth that ye haue alreadye. For he verelye sayed: I wyll not fayle the, neyther forsake the:

Oure reioysinge is this, the testimony of oure conscience, that in synglenes and Godly purenes, and not in fleshely wysdome, but by the grace of God, we haue had oure conuersation in the worlde, and moste of all to youwardes.

The vngodly drawe oute the swerde & bende their bowe, to caste doune the simple and poore, and to slaye suche as go the right waye.

Thys also we knowe, I meane the season, howe that it is tyme, that we should now awake oute of slepe. For nowe is oure saluacyon nearer, then when we beleued.

The night is passed, and the day is come ny. Let vs therfore caste awaye the dedes of darcknes, & let vs put on the Armoure of lyghte.

Neuertheles the daye of the Lord wyl come as a thiefe in the nyght in the which daye, the heauens shal peryshe wyth terryble noyse, and the elementes shal melte wyth heate, and the earth wyth the workes that are therin shal burne.
