2 Peter 3:10

Matthew's Bible 1537

Neuertheles the daye of the Lord wyl come as a thiefe in the nyght in the which daye, the heauens shal peryshe wyth terryble noyse, and the elementes shal melte wyth heate, and the earth wyth the workes that are therin shal burne.

And I sawe heauen & a new earthe. For the fyrst heauen, & the first earth were vanyshed away & there was no more sea.

Heauen & earth shal perishe, but my wordes shal abide.

But the heauens verely and earth, which are now are kept by the same worde in store, and reserued vnto fyre, agaynste the daye of iudgemente, and perdycyon of vngodlye men.

Beholde I come as a thefe. Happye is he that watcheth & kepeth his garmentes, least he be founde naked, and men se hys filthynes.

Lyfte vp youre eyes towarde heauen, & loke vpon the earthe beneth. For the heauens shall vanyshe awaye lyke smoke, & the earthe shall teare lyke a clothe, & they that dwell therein, shall peryshe in lyke maner. But my healthe endureth for euer, & my ryghtuousnes shall not cease.

for ye youre selues knowe perfectly that the daie of the Lorde shall come euen as a thefe in the nyght.

Heauen and earth shal passe, but my wordes shall not passe.

lokynge for and hasting vnto the comminge of the daye of God, in which the heauens shall perishe with fyre, & the elementes shalbe consumed wyth heat.

All the starres of heauen shalbe consumed, & the heauen shall folde together lyke a roll, & all the starres therof shal fall, lyke as the leaues fall from the vynes & fygetrees.

Remember therfore howe thou hast receiued and hearde, and hold faste & repent. Yf thou shalt not watche, I wyl come on the as a thiefe, and thou shalt not knowe, what hour I wil come vpon the.

Thys vnderstande, that yf the good man of the house knewe what houre that these would come, he woulde surely watche, and not suffer hys house to be broken vp.

They shal perish, but thou shalt endure: they all shall wexe olde as doth a garment, & as a vesture shalt thou chaunge them, & they shalbe chaunged.

And I sawe a great whyte seate and hym that sate on it, from whose face fled away bothe the earthe & heauen, & theyr place was no more founde.

The mountaynes tremble for him, the hylles consume. At the syght of hym, the earth quaketh: yee the whole world, and all that dwell therin.

The sunne shalbe turned into darcknes, & the mone into bloude: before the greate & notable daye of the Lorde come.

For when the Lorde God of hoostes toucheth a lande, it consumeth awaye, and all they that dwell therin, muste nedes mourne: And why? theyr destruccyon shall aryse as euery streame and runne ouer them, as the floude in Egipte.

be delyuered vnto Sathan, for the destruccion of the fleshe, that the spirite maye be saued in the daye of the Lorde Iesus.

The mountaynes shall consume vnder hym, and the valleyes shall cleue asunder, lyke as wax consumeth at the fyre, & as the waters runne downwarde.

The earthe shall geue a greate cracke, it shall haue a sore ruyne, & taken an horrible fall.

The hilles melt like waxe at the presence of the lord of the whole earth.

Beholde, the tyme commeth (sayeth the Lorde) that plowman shall ouer take the mower, & the treader of grappes, hym that soweth sede. The mountaynes shall droppe swete wyne, and the hylles shalbe fruyteful,

Blowe oute the trompet in Sion, & crye vpon my holy hyl, that al suche as dwell in the land, may tremble at it, for the daye of the Lorde commeth, and is harde at hande:

alas, alas, for thys daye. And why? the daye of the Lorde is at hand, and commeth as a destroyer from the almighty.

For the daye of the Lorde of Hostes shall go ouer all pryde & presumpcyon, vpon all them that exalte them selues, & shall brynge them all doune:

because the creatures are subdued to vanitie agaynst their wyl but for his will which subdueth them in hope.

Beholde, I wyl sende you Elias the Prophet: before the comming of the daye of the greate and fearfull Lorde.

In the valleye appoynted, there shalbe many, many people: for the daye of the Lorde is nye in the valleye appoynted.

The Heythen are madde, the kingdomes make muche a do: but when he sheweth hys voyce, the earth melteth awaye.

The aungels also whiche kepte not theyr fyrste estate: but lefte theyr habytacyon, he hath reserued in euerlastyng chaynes vnder darkenes vnto the iudgement of the greate daye:

for we are your reioysinge, euen as ye are oures in the day of the Lorde Iesus.

which shal strength you vnto the ende, that ye may be blamelesse in the daye of oure Lorde Iesus Christ.

But ye brethren are not in darckenes, that that daye shoulde come on you as it were a thefe.

If al these thinges shal perishe, what maner persons ought ye to be in holye conuersacyon and Godlynes:

And heauen vanished awaye, as a scrole, when it is rolled together. And al mountaines and Iles, were moued out of their places.
