They promis them libertie, and are them selues the bonde seruauntes of corrupcyon. For of whomsoeuer a man is ouer come, vnto the same is he in bondage.
For we our selues also in tymes paste, vnwyse, dysobedient, deceyued, in daunger to lustes, and to dyuers maners of voluptuousnes, lyuyng in malycyousnes and enuye, ful of hate, hatyng one another.
My herte breaketh in my bodye because of the false prophetes, all my bones shake: I am become lyke a droncken man (that by the reason of wyne can take no reste) for verye feare of the Lorde, and of hys holy wordes:
Wo be to the croune of pryde, to the droncken Ephraemytes, & to the faydynge floure, to the glorye of hys pompe, that is vpon the toppe of the plenteous valleye: whiche men be ouerladen with wine.
For yf they, after they haue escaped from the fylthines of the worlde thorowe the knowledge yf the Lord and of the sauiour Iesus Christe, are yet tangled agayne therin and ouercome, then is the latter ende worsse wyth them then the beginninge.
And that man in whom the euyll spyryte was ranne on them and ouercame them, and preuayled agaynste them, so that they fledde out of that house naked and wounded.
by the meanes, wherof are geuen vnto vs excellent and most great promises, that by the helpe of them ye should be partakers of the godly nature, in that ye flee the corruption of worldelye luste.
