Put on the armoure of God, that ye maye stande stedfaste agaynste the crafty assautes of the deuyll.

Submytte your selues to God, and resiste the deuyl, and he wyll flye from you.

And the Lorde sayde vnto Sathan: From whence commest thou? Sathan answered & sayde: I haue gone aboute the lande, & walked thorow it.

neyther geue place vnto the backebyter.

Wherfore gyrde vp the loynes of youre myndes, be sober, and trust perfectelye on the grace that is broughte vnto you, by the declarynge of Iesus Christe,

The ende of al thinges is at hande. Be ye therfore discrete and sober, that ye maye be apt to prayers.

Watche therfore contynuallye and praye, that ye may obtayne grace to flye all this that shal come, and that ye may stande before the sonne of man.

And the Lorde sayde: Simon Simon beholde, Sathan hath desyred you, to syfte you, as it were wheate,

& teacheth vs that we shoulde denye vngodlynes & worldly lustes, and that we shoulde lyue sobre mynded ryghtuouslye and Godly in this present worlde,

Therfore reioyse heauens, and ye that dwell in them, Wo to the inhabiters of the earth, & of the sea, for the deuyll is come doune vnto you, which hath great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a shorte tyme.

Ye are of youre father the deuyl, and the lustes of your father ye wyll do. He was a murtherer from the begynnyng, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truthe in hym. When he speaketh a lye, then speaketh he of hys owne. For he is a lyar, and the father therof.

And the enemy that soweth them is the deuell. The Haruest is the ende of the worlde. And the reapers be the Aungels.

And the great dragon, that olde serpente called the deuyll and Sathanas was caste out. Whiche deceyueth al the worlde. And he was cast into the earth, and his angelles were cast out also.

Wake therfor, because ye knowe not what houre your maister wyl come.

& the deuyll that deceyued them, was caste into a lake of fyre and brymstone, where the beast and the false Prophet were & shalbe tormented daye and nyghte for euermore.

Take hede to your selues, lest youre hertes be ouercome with surfetinge and dronkenes and cares of this worlde: and that that day come not on you vnwares.

And he shewed me Iesua the hye priest, standynge before the angell of the Lorde, and Satan stode at hys ryghte hande to resiste hym.

but herberous one that loueth goodnes, sober mynded, ryghtuous, holy temperate,

Notwithstandynge the Lord assisted me, & strenghthed me, that by me the preachynge shoulde be fulfylled to the vttermoste, and that al the Gentyles shoulde heare. And I was delyuered out of the mouth of the Lyon.

When a lyon roareth, who wyll not be afrayed? Seynge then that the Lord God him selfe speaketh, who wyll not prophecye?

Young men lykewyse exhort that they be sobre mynded.

That the elder men be sober, honest, discret, sounde in the fayth, in loue, and in pacience.

The Lorde roareth lyke a Lyon, that they maye folowe him: yea as a lyon roareth he, that they may be afrayed like the children of the sea:

Myne aduocate speaketh for me, who wyl then go with me to law? Let vs stand one agaynste another: yf there be any that wyll reason with me, let him come here forth to me.

The kyng oughte to be feared as the roarynge of a Lyon, who so prouoketh hym vnto anger, offendeth agaynst hys owne soule.

Yea, and the yonge lyons which roare after their praye, and seke their meate at God.

Notwythstandyng thorow bearyng of chyldren they shalbe saued, so they continue in faythe, loue & holynes with discrecion.

And he toke the dragon that olde serpent which is the deuyl and Satanas, & he bound him a thousand yeares:

to make the yong women sobre mynded, to loue theyr husbandes, to loue their chyldren,

Euen so muste theyr wyues be honeste, not euyll speakers, but sober and faythfull in all thynges.

The Lorde shal roare oute of Syon, and crye oute of Ierusalem, that the heauens & the earthe shall quake wythal. But the Lorde shalbe a defence vnto his owne people, & a refuge for the chyldren of Israel.

Lykewyse also the women that they araye them selues in comlye apparell wyth shamefastnes and discrete behauyoure not wyth broyded heare other golde, or pearles, or costlye araye:

Then was Iesus led away of the spirite into wildernes, to be tempted of the deuyll.

Doth a lyon roare in the woodde, excepte he haue a praye? Or cryeth a lyons whelpe oute of hys denne, excepte he haue gotten somthing?

And as for those men which had accused Daniel, the king commaunded to bringe them, and to cast them in the lyons denne: them, their children and their wiues. So the Lyons had the maystry of them, and brake all their bones a sonder, or euer they came at the grounde.

thy Prophetes that are in the, are sworne together to deuoure soules, lyke as a roarynge Lyon, that lyueth by his praye. They receyue ryches and good, and make many widdowes in the.

The kynges disfauour is lyke the roaryng of a Lyon, but hys frendship is lyke the dewe vpon the grasse.

They shall roare together lyke lyons, and as the yonge lyons when they be angrie, so shall they bende them selues.

Why do they roare, and crye then vpon him, as a lyon? They haue made his lande waste, his cities are so brent vp, that there is noman dwellynge in them.

Set an vngodly man to be ruler ouer him and let Satan stande at his ryghte hande.

And he sayde: The Lorde shall roare oute of Syon, and shewe hys voyce from Ierusalem: so that the pastures of the shepherdes shalbe in a myserable case, and the tope of Charmell dryed vp.

Lyke as a roarynge lyon and an hongry beare, euen so is an vngodly prynce ouer the pore people.

and they that are by the wayes side, where the worde is sowen, are they to whome assone as they haue hearde it, Satan cometh immediatly, & taketh awaye the worde that was sowen in theyr hartes.

leaste Sathan shoulde preuente vs. For thys thoughtes are not vnknowen vnto vs.

And I hearde a loude voyce sayinge: in heauen is nowe made saluacyon, and strength and the kyngdome of our God, and the power of hys Christe. For he is caste doune, whyche accused them before God daye and nyghte.
