Dearely beloued, I beseche you as straungers and pylgremes, obstayne from fleshely lustes, which fyght agaynste the soule,

that he hence forwarde shoulde lyue as muche tyme as remayneth in the fleshe, not after the iustes of men, but after the wyl of God.

And they all dyed in fayth, and receyued not the promyses: but sawe them a farre of, & beleued them; and saluted them: and confessed that they were straungers and pylgrems on the earthe.

to lyue after the fleshe. For yf ye liue after the, fleshe, ye muste dye. But if ye mortifye the dedes of the bodye, by the helpe of the spirite, ye shall liue.

For we be but straungers before the and tenauntes, as were all oure fathers. Oure dayes on the earth is but a shadowe, and there is none abydynge.

From whence commeth warre & fyghtynge amonge you: come they not hear hence? euen of your voluptuousnes, that rayne in youre membres.

Lustes of youth auoyde, and folow ryghtuousnes, fayth, loue, & peace, with them that call on the Lorde with pure herte.

Seynge that we haue such promyses dearely beloued, let vs cleanse oure selues from al fylthynesse of the fleshe & spyrite, and grow vp to full holynesse in the feare of God.

I beseche you therfore brethren, by the mercyfulnes of God, that ye make your bodyes a quicke sacrifyce holye and acceptable vnto God, which is youre reasonable seruynge of God:

I therfore whiche am in boundes for the Lordes sake, exhorte you, that ye walke worthy of the vocation wherwyth ye are called,

But I se another lawe in my membres rebellynge agaynst the lawe of my mynde and subduynge me vnto the lawe of synne whyche is in my membres.

that is to saye that ye abstayne from thynges offered to ymages, from bloude, from strangled and fornicacion. From which yf ye kepe your selues ye shall do well. So fare ye well.

Take hede to your selues, lest youre hertes be ouercome with surfetinge and dronkenes and cares of this worlde: and that that day come not on you vnwares.

I am a straunger vpon earth, O hide not thy commaundementes fro me.

Heare my prayer O Lorde, and consyder my callynge: shewe not thy selfe as though thou sawest not my teares. For I am a straunger and pilgrymme wyth the, as all my forefathers were.

Wherfore the Land shall not be solde for euer, bycause that the land is myne, & ye but straungers and soiourners wyth me:

And yf so be that ye call on the father, whiche wythout respecte of person, iudgeth accordynge to euery mannes workes se that ye passe the tyme of youre pylgrymage in feare.

We as healpers therfore exhorte you, that ye receyue not the grace of God in vayne.

Nowe then are we messengers in the roume of Christ: euen as thoughe God dyd beseche you thorowe vs: So praye we you in Christes stede, that ye be atone with God,

but that we write vnto them, that they abstayne them selues from fylthynes of ymages, from fornicacyon, from stranglyde and from bloude.

And Iacob sayd vnto Pharao: the dayes of my pilgremage are an hundred and .xxx. yeres. Fewe & euell haue the dayes of my lyfe bene, & haue not attayned vnto the yeres of the lyfe of my fathers in the dayes of their pilgremages.

Peter an Apostle of Iesu Christe to them that dwell here & there as straungers thorowout all Pontus, Galacia, Capadocia Asia, and Bithinia, elect

Thy statutes are my songes in the house of my pylgremage.

I am a straunger and a foryner among you, geue me a possessyon to burye in with you, that I may bury my dead out of my syght.

Nowe therfore ye are no more straungers and foreners, but citizyns with the sainctes, and of the houshold of God:

Neuerthelesse deare frindes, we truste to se better of you, and thynges whiche accompanye saluacyon, though we thus speake.

Dearely beloued, be not troubled in hys heate, whiche nowe is come amonge you to trye you as though some straunge thing had happened vnto you:

This is the seconde epistle that I nowe wryte to you (beloued) wherwith I stere vp & warne youre pure myndes, to cal to remembraunc

and dwelt in the Philistins land a long season.

And yf a woman lye wyth soche a one, they shal wash them selues wyth water & be vncleane vntyl euen.
