My brethren, count it excedyng ioye when ye fal into dyuers temptacyons,

The God of al grace, which called you vnto his eternal glory by Christe Iesus, shall hys owne selfe after ye haue suffred a litle affliccion make you perfecte, shall settle, strength and stablishe you.

Reioyce in hope. Be pacyent in trybulacyon. Contynue in prayer.

by whom we haue a waye in thorowe fayeth vnto thys grace where in we stande & reioye in hope of the prayse that shalbe geuen of God.

Reioyce & be glad, for great is your reward in heauen. For so persecuted they the prophetes which were before your dayes.

that I might geue vnto them that mourne in Sion bewtye in the steade of ashes, ioyful oyntment for syghing, pleasaunt rayment for an heauy mynde: That they might be called excellente in ryghteousnesse, a plantinge of the Lord for hym to reioyce in.

These wordes haue I spoken vnto you, that in me you myght haue peace. For in the worlde shall you haue tribulacyon: but be of good cheare. I haue ouercome the worlde.

And ye now are in sorow: but I wyll se you agayne, and youre hertes shall reioyce, and youre ioye shall no man take from you.

Great are the troubles of the righteous, but the Lorde delyuereth them out of all.

My soule melteth awaye for verye heuynesse, O set me vp accordyng vnto thy word

Come vnto me all ye that labour and are laden and I wyll ease you.

Not only so, but we also ioy in god by the means of oure Lorde Iesus Christ, by whom we haue receiued the attonment.

and strengthed the disciples soules exhortynge them to continue in the faith, affyrmyng that we must thorowe muche tribulacion enter into the kingdome of God.

Neuerthelesse, in thys reioyse not that the spirites are vnder youre power: but reioyse because your names are written in heauen.

The ende of al thinges is at hande. Be ye therfore discrete and sober, that ye maye be apt to prayers.

O come let vs prayse the Lord, let vs hertely reioyse in the strength of our saluacion.

Suffer afflictyons: sorowe ye and wepe. Let youre laughter be turned to mornynge and youre ioye to heauynes.

For oure excedynge trybulation whiche is momentanye and lyghte, prepareth an excedynge and eternall wayghte of glory vnto vs,

Let the brother of low degre reioyce in that he is exalted,

And Hannah prayd & sayd: myne herte reioyseth in the Lord, myne horne is hye in the Lorde, & my mouthe is wyde open ouer mine enemyes, for I reioyse in thy sauynge.

For we are cyrcumcysion, whyche worship God in the spirite, and reioyce in Christe Iesu, and haue no confidence in the fleshe,

as sorowyng, & yet alway mery: as poore, and yet make many ryche: as hauynge nothynge, and yet possessynge all thynges.

And ye became folowers of vs and of the Lord, and receyued the worde with much affliccion, with ioye of the holye ghoste:

Reioyce in the Lorde alway, and agayne I say reioyce.

But the frute of the spiryte, is loue, ioye peace, longe sufferynge, gentylnes, goodnes, faithfulnes,

that I haue great heauines and continuall sorowe in my hert.

I knowe, O Lorde, that thy iudgmentes are right, and that thou of very faithfulnes hast caused me to be troubled.

The rebuke breaketh my herte, and maketh me heuy: I loke for some to haue pytye vpon me, but ther is no man: and for some to comforte me, but I fynde none.

All my bones shall saye: Lorde who is lyke vnto the? which deliuerest the poore from those that are to strong for him, yea, the poore and the nedy from hys robbers.

That I maye shewe all thy prayses within the portes of the daughter of Sion, and reioyse in thy sauynge health.

For he lounged after you, and was full of heauines, because that ye had hearde saye, that he shoulde be sycke.

But the aungel sayde vnto them: Be not afrayed. For beholde, I bringe you tydinges of greate ioye that shall come to al the people:

And my sprete reioyceth in God my sauiour.

And he toke with hym Peter and the two sonnes of Zebede, and began to waxe sorowful, and to be in an agonye.

And therfore I am ioyful in the Lorde, and my soule reioyseth in my God. For he shall put vpon me the garment of health, & couer me with the mantle of righteousnes. He shal decke me lyke a brydegrom, and as a bryde that hath her apparell vpon her.

It is better (yf the wyll of God be so) that ye suffre for wel doyng, then for euil doinge.
