I said, Surely you will fear me, you will receive instruction; so that their dwelling should not be cut off, however I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.
Therefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh from among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and took him to Babylon.
What could have been done more for my vineyard, that I have not done in it? why, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes?
They said, Turn back now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD has given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:
It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do to them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
Then said Jeremiah to Zedekiah, Thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; If you will assuredly go forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, then your soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire; and you shall live, and your house:
I listened and heard, but they did not speak rightly: no man repented of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his way, as the horse rushes into the battle.
The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some men count slowness; but is longsuffering towards us, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
