Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a sudden end of all those who dwell in the land.

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the birds of the air; for it grieves me that I have made them.

And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, more than all that their fathers had done.

That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:

For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their sculptured images.

How long, LORD? will you be angry for ever? shall your jealousy burn like fire?

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivers from death.

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own imagination.

Therefore says the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will relieve myself of my adversaries, and avenge myself on my enemies:

And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

And what will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from afar? to whom will you flee for help? and where will you leave your treasures?

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, my anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of cheerfulness, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

And I will make Jerusalem heaps of ruins, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

And I will judge you, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give you blood in fury and jealousy.

And I will set my jealousy against you, and they shall deal furiously with you: they shall take away your nose and your ears; and your remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take your sons and your daughters; and the rest of you shall be devoured by the fire.

Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of theirs: neither shall there be wailing for them.

They shall throw their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bodies: because these things are the stumbling block of their iniquity.

Thus says the Lord GOD; An evil, an evil above all others, behold, has come.

Howl, you inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all those who carry silver are cut off.

That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of destruction and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

Before the decree is fulfilled, before the day passes as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger comes upon you.

Therefore wait upon me, says the LORD, until the day that I rise up to take the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them my indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?
