And Onan knew that the seed would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, so that he would not give descendents to his brother.

And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.

For he flatters himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.

O you simple, understand wisdom: and you fools, be of an understanding heart.

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

He feeds on ashes: a deceived heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; who says in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.

And he said, Be careful that you are not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near: therefore do not go after them.

Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin.

For as you in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof.

But thanks be to God, that you were the servants of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart that form of instruction which was delivered to you.

But now being made free from sin, and having become servants to God, you have your fruit in holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

For I fear, that, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would like, and that I shall be found by you such as you would not like: lest there be debates, envying, wrath, strife, backbiting, whispering, pride, tumults:

For if a person thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

And you, who were at one time alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now has he reconciled

In which you also walked at one time, when you lived in them.

But evil men and seducers shall become worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

For of this sort are those who creep into houses, and lead captive silly women burdened with sins, led away with various lusts,

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and worthless for every good work.

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

If anyone among you seems to be religious, and does not control his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is without benefit.

As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

And deceives those who dwell on the earth by means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth that they should make an image to the beast which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

And he cried out mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
