And the LORD said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and turns away from evil? and still he holds fast his integrity, although you moved me against him, to destroy him without cause.

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.

If anyone teaches otherwise, and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

Hold fast the form of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

In meekness instructing those who place themselves in opposition; if God will perhaps give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

But you should continue in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them;

For the time will come when they will not endure sound teaching; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Whose mouths must be stopped, who corrupt whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for unjust gain’s sake.

But you, speak the things which suit sound doctrine:

Beloved, when I applied myself to write to you of the common salvation, I felt it necessary to write to you and urge you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.

But that which you have already hold fast till I come.

Behold, I come quickly: hold fast that which you have, so that no one takes your crown.

Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore you shall not watch, I will come upon you like a thief, and you shall not know what hour I will come upon you.
