Whoever therefore resists the authority, resists the appointment of God: and those who resist shall receive to themselves condemnation.

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, like a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for you neither go in yourselves, nor permit those who are entering to go in.

Who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but from God: the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Do you desire then not to fear the authority? Do what is good, and you shall have praise from the same:

Therefore you must be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.

You will say then to me, Why does he yet find fault? For who has resisted his will?

Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey government officials, to be ready for every good work,

My brethren, do not have many teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

Submit yourselves to every government authority for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
