But he said, You are idle, you are idle: therefore you say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.

The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

Do you see a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before lowly men.

She rises also while it is yet night, and gives food to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor devising, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, to which you go.

His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.

His lord answered and said to him, You wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I have not scattered:

This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

For he who is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he who is called, being free, is Christ’s servant.

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have something to give to him that is needy.

Masters, give to your servants that which is just and fair; knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

And besides this they learn to be idle, wandering around from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

Therefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us hold fast to grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

Confess your faults to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much.

Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit for genuine love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart earnestly:

And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover a multitude of sins.

Nevertheless I have something against you, because you have left your first love.
