And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that puts on his armor boast himself as he that takes it off.

And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Should you help the ungodly, and love those who hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon you from before the LORD.

You say, Lo, you have struck the Edomites; and your heart lifts you up to boast: remain now at home; why should you meddle to your hurt, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?

For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors.

Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

Those who trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

The foolish shall not stand in your sight: you hate all workers of iniquity.

​Why do you boast yourself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endures continually.

The haters of the LORD would have submitted themselves to him: but their time would have endured for ever.

How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

Let all those who serve sculptured images be put to shame, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all you gods.

You answered them, O LORD our God: you were a God that forgave them, though you took vengeance on their inventions.

He that devises to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

The north wind drives away rain: so does an angry expression a backbiting tongue.

The eye that mocks his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul: all those who hate me love death.

Lo, this only have I found, that God has made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

In you have they lightly regarded father and mother: in the midst of you have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in you have they troubled the fatherless and the widow.

And it came to pass, when the ark went forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let your enemies be scattered; and let those who hate you flee before you.

For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He who curses father or mother, let him die the death.

From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples how he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

And you shall be betrayed both by parents, and brothers, and kinfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

The world cannot hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that its works are evil.

For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nothing.

Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the law, and make your boast of God,

You who make your boast of the law, through breaking the law do you dishonor God?

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No: but by the law of faith.

Not boasting of things beyond our limit, that is, of other men’s labors; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our sphere abundantly,

For I fear, that, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would like, and that I shall be found by you such as you would not like: lest there be debates, envying, wrath, strife, backbiting, whispering, pride, tumults:

Cursed be he that despises his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

And repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hates him, he will repay him to his face.

Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

For we ourselves also were at one time foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindles!

But now you rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much licentiousness, those who had entirely escaped from those who live in error.

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration for the sake of gain.
