But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.

My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my wound; and my kinsmen stand afar off.

So they shall make their own words to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

Lover and friend have you put far from me, and my acquaintances into darkness.

You have put away my acquaintances far from me; you have made me an abomination to them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose you.

For even your brothers, and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you; yea, they have called a multitude after you: do not believe them, though they speak fair words to you.

For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.

But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I do not know the man. And immediately the cock crowed.

And they all forsook him, and fled.

For even Christ did not please himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.

At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be held against them.

And others had trials of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

Let us go out therefore to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, happy are you; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: by them he is evil spoken of, but by you he is glorified.
