And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and you would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

And surely your blood of your lives will I require; from the hand of every beast will I require it, and from the hand of man; from the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.

Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it of you.

Men from the city groan, and the soul of the wounded cries out: yet God does not charge them with folly.

Though it be granted him to be in safety, which sustains him; yet his eyes are upon their ways.

O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme your name for ever?

Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed your name.

But even a whole month, until it comes out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome to you: because you have despised the LORD who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why did we come forth out of Egypt?

He who hears you hears me; and he who despises you despises me; and he who despises me despises him that sent me.

Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood;

He therefore that despises these things, does not despise man, but God, who has also given to us his Holy Spirit.
