Why do you hide your face, and consider me as your enemy?

On the left hand, where he works, but I cannot behold him: he hides himself on the right hand, so that I cannot see him:

When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hides his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

​My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

Hide not your face far from me; put not your servant away in anger: you have been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

LORD, by your favor you have made my mountain to stand strong: you hid your face, and I was troubled.

Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly clings to the earth.

​God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

LORD, why do you cast off my soul? why do you hide your face from me?

O the hope of Israel, the savior thereof in time of trouble, why should you be like a stranger in the land, and like a traveling man who turns aside to stay for a night?

Why should you be like a man astonished, like a mighty man who cannot save? yet you, O LORD, are in the midst of us, and we are called by your name; do not leave us.
