You put my feet also in the stocks, and look watchfully at all my paths; you put a mark on the heels of my feet.

But he who commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: he that does it destroys his own soul.

With much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

Till a dart strikes through his liver; as a bird hurries to the snare, and does not know that it is for his life.

Then Pashur struck Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.

Then the priest of Jupiter, who was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

Who, having received such an order, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet secure in the stocks.
