That she called to the men of her house, and spoke to them, saying, See, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice:

And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes on Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

She also lies in wait as for a prey, and increases the transgressors among men.

He who loves wisdom brings joy to his father: but he that keeps company with harlots spends his wealth.

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

So that strangers are not filled with your wealth; and your labor is not in the house of a stranger;

So that you do not give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel:

Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

Till a dart strikes through his liver; as a bird hurries to the snare, and does not know that it is for his life.

And say, Thus says the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all sleeves, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every height to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people, and will you save the souls alive that come to you?

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Because you have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, says the Lord GOD.

But as soon as this your son came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you have killed for him the fattened calf.

And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in your house shall come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray you, into one of the priests’ offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
