There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
He who secretly slanders his neighbor, him will I cut off: him that has a high look and a proud heart will I not allow.
LORD, my heart is not puffed up, nor my eyes lofty: neither do I occupy myself with great matters, or in things too high for me.
A high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
Moreover the LORD says, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched out necks and wanton eyes, walking and swaying as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
And the lowly man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
Will you yet say before him who slays you, I am God? but you shall be a man, and no God, in the hand of him who slays you.
Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
