Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshiped: then he came to his own house; and when he asked for it, they set bread before him, and he did eat.

But the former governors that had been before me were costly to the people, and had taken from them bread and wine, besides forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bore rule over the people: but so I did not, because of the fear of God.

There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and turned away from evil.

And to man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

And Moses said to the people, Fear not: for God has come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that you sin not.

A wise man fears, and departs from evil: but the fool rages, and is confident.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

By mercy and truth iniquity is cleansed: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Do not labor to be rich: cease from your own wisdom.

Do you see a man wise in his own sight? there is more hope for a fool than for him.

Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.

The rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor that has understanding searches him out.

He that trusts in his own heart is a fool: but he who walks wisely, he shall be delivered.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, and the wayward mouth, do I hate.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion; that blindness in part has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not be concerned with high things, but associate with men of humble circumstances. Do not be wise in your own conceits.
