Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid a hundred men of the LORD’S prophets by fifties in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn.

Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child, and your princes eat in the morning!

Then said the princes to Baruch, Go, hide yourselves, you and Jeremiah; and let no man know where you are.

But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.

Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if you can find a man, if there be any who executes justice, who seeks the truth; and I will pardon it.

Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the edge of your robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the edge of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in my hand, and I have not sinned against you; yet you hunt my soul to take it.
