So Hatach went out to Mordecai to the street of the city, which was before the king’s gate.

And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.

The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

In whose eyes a vile person is despised; but he honors those who fear the LORD. He that swears to his own hurt, and does not change.

​Why do you boast yourself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endures continually.

Excellent speech is not suitable for a fool: much less lying lips for a prince.

Delight is not suitable for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the fool’s back.

As he that binds a stone in a sling, so is he that gives honor to a fool.

The prince that lacks understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days.

But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.

And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried out, and said to them, Listen to me, you men of Shechem, that God may listen to you.
