At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.
He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper’s tongue shall slay him.
You shall tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shall you trample under foot.
For they threw down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under foot:
They hatch serpent’s eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eats of their eggs dies, and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper.
The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do at the end of it?
For, behold, I will send serpents, vipers, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, says the LORD.
