I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant have you been to me: your love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in whatever place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will your servant be.

A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

All the brothers of the poor hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursues them with words, yet they do not help him.

For both he that sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all of one nature: for which reason he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

And Ruth said, Do not appeal to me to leave you, or to return from following after you: for where you go, I will go; and where you lodge, I will lodge: your people shall be my people, and your God my God:

Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

But Jonathan Saul’s son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeks to kill you: now therefore, I pray you, be careful until the morning, and stay in a secret place, and hide yourself:

And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will talk with my father about you; and what I see, that I will tell you.

And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
