A fool’s anger is soon known: but a prudent man covers shame.

The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

He who is slow to anger is of great understanding: but he who is hasty of spirit exalts folly.

A wrathful man stirs up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeases strife.

He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.

It is an honor for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall not go:

An angry man stirs up strife, and a furious man abounds in transgression.

A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that be swift in running to evil,

Be not hasty in your spirit to be angry: for anger rests in the bosom of fools.

The schemes also of the selfish person are evil: he devises wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaks right.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger:
