Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuses instruction: but he that regards reproof shall be honored.

He who loves instruction loves knowledge: but he who hates reproof is stupid.

He who despises the word shall be destroyed: but he who fears the commandment shall be rewarded.

The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.

The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall suffer from want.

A fool despises his father’s instruction: but he that regards reproof is prudent.

Many will appeal for the favor of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that gives gifts.

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.

We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covers us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even until this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.

See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if they did not escape who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven:
