The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

The sorrows of death surrounded me, and the pains of hell got hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

The sorrows of hell met me on every side: the snares of death came upon me.

The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

The way of life is above for the wise, so that he may depart from hell beneath.

The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keeps his way preserves his soul.

Understanding is a wellspring of life to him that has it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

By mercy and truth iniquity is cleansed: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

For by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.

And blessed be your advice, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with my own hand.
