As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to those who send him: for he refreshes the soul of his masters.
As he that takes away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon soda, so is he that sings songs to a heavy heart.
He that sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off the feet, and drinks damage.
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Who say, Stand back, do not come near me; for I am holier than you are. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all the day.
His lord answered and said to him, You wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I have not scattered:
Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
That you be not slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
