So are the ways of every one that is greedy for gain; which takes away the life of the possessors thereof.

If I have eaten the fruits of it without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:

His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own crown.

Wisdom cries out openly; she speaks forth her voice in the streets:

He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house; but he who hates bribes shall live.

He who is partner with a thief hates his own soul: he hears cursing, and does not reveal it.

There is a great evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.

Woe to him who covets with an evil covetousness for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!

Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy for unjust gain; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

And through covetousness shall they with deceitful words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now for a long time has not delayed, and their damnation does not slumber.
